PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printing system in which overspray or waste ink does not exert an adverse effect on quality of a produced image, a method for printing on a printing medium, and a system for absorbing the waste ink from the inkjet printing system. SOLUTION: An absorber 32 for a printing area, which is formed in a platen 28 in a printing zone 17, extends beyond edges 192, 193, 194 of a printing medium 19, and absorbs waste ink jetted from a printing head assembly 12 beyond the edges 192, 193, 194. A core 34 contacts to the absorber 32 and absorbs the waste ink from the absorber 32. A storage tank 36 absorbs the ink from the core 34 by getting into contact with the core 34. The core 34 has a capillary head larger than a capillary head of the absorber 32. The storage tank 36 has a capillary head larger than the capillary head of the core 34.
