PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To employ a component arrangement capable of miniaturizing a discharge lamp lighting device and of surely preventing a discharge accident, in a multi-lamp type discharge lamp lighting device. SOLUTION: In this discharge lamp lighting device, a plurality of inverter transformers 60 and respective boosting transformers 60A are so arranged that high voltage terminals B and D, C and E, and F and H of other transformers adjacent to them and themselves wherein both the phases and voltages of the voltage waveforms of their secondary windings 40, 41, 40A and 41A coincide with each other are disposed adjacently to each other, whereby the adjacent high-voltage terminals are always set at the same potential and the need for considering an insulation distance is obviated, so that safety to a discharge accident or the like is improved.
