PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash device that can extend the life of a power source battery by eliminating unnecessary power consumption, and to provide a camera device with the flash device, ans a method and a program therefor. SOLUTION: In REC mode being in a normal photography ready state, a main capacitor 71 is connected to the side of a boosting/charging circuit 72 through a changeover switch 82 and charged with the electric power of a battery 91. When the REC mode is switched to another mode, the main capacitor 71 is connected to the side of a step-down circuit 81 through the switching operation of the changeover switch 82. The step-down circuit 81 lowers to 4.2V and supplies the charging voltage of the main capacitor 71 to a power circuit 93 of the camera and lowers to 5V and supplies the charging voltage to the battery 91 as the power source of the camera. When auxiliary light need not be emitted any more, the electric power which is naturally discharged from the main capacitor 71 is automatically and effectively used for other operations other than the emission of the auxiliary light.
