PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability and safety of disc cutter replacing work in a tunnel excavator. SOLUTION: A disc cutter housing chamber 41 and a cutter replacing chamber 42 are arranged in a cutter spoke 19 of a cutter head 18, and a rotary body 46 is rotatably installed in the disc cutter housing chamber 41 by a hydraulic jack 57. While detachably installing a disc cutter 23 on this rotary body 46, a guide rail 4 is fixed to the cutter replacing chamber 42, and a carrying carriage 71 mountable with the disc cutter 23 is movably supported, and can be moved by winches 93 and 94.
