PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which is provided with a printing function in an optical recording medium and a destruction processing function of the optical recording medium in a single device, can easily be manufactured, and can be made small in shape. SOLUTION: This printer is provided with a tray 55 for supporting an optical disk 45, a thermal head 32 abutted on the optical disk 45 and driven to generate heat, and a control means for driving the thermal head 32. The control means alternately selects a first operation mode for driving the thermal head 32 to execute printing on the optical disk 45 under predetermined conditions, and a second operation mode for driving the thermal head 32 under conditions different from the predetermined conditions to disable the reading of data recorded by deforming or altering the substrate of the optical disk 45 by heat.
