PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photographing device and an outline correction method by which a correction coefficient showing the degree of correction in outline correction processing is easily determined. SOLUTION: The outline correction method comprises: acquiring high-sensitivity data showing an object image by photographing with high sensitivity an object by means of a CCD (Charge Coupled Device) 18; acquiring low-sensitivity data showing the object image by photographing with low sensitivity the object; applying gamma correction processing to the high-sensitivity data by means of a high-sensitivity sideγprocessing circuit 76 and applying the gamma correction processing to the low-sensitivity data by means of a low-sensitivity sideγprocessing circuit 78; generating composite data by composing the gamma correction-processed high-sensitivity data with the gamma correction-processed low-sensitivity data by means of a composite processing circuit 80; and setting the gain based on the gamma correction processing done by the high-sensitivity sideγprocessing circuit 76, when the outline correction processing is applied to the object image indicated by the composite data by using preset gain showing the degree of outline correction by means of an outline correction circuit 47.
