PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a rotational angle detector for detecting a rotational angle precisely at low cost. SOLUTION: The rotational angle of a rotor plate 11 is detected, based on the rotor plate 11 mounted to a steering shaft 21; a slit ring 41 that is along the circumferential direction of the rotor plate 11 and is formed in a shape, where a distance from the rotational center of the rotor plate 11 changes continuously; and a light reception position being detected by a light receiving element 52 after a light emitting element 51 emits light. In the rotational angle detector, a wall section 42 being provided at the outer periphery end of the rotor plate 11 is pressed in the rotation center direction of the rotor plate by a shaft deviation detection mechanism 53 when the rotor plate 11 is being rotated. Additionally, a displacement of a core 62 is detected by coil sections 67, 68, and the like, thus correcting a rotational angle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
