The unit (1) is assembled of a housing (4) accommodating the laser transmitter (2) and two small batteries (3). The housing (4) is provided with an opening (18) at the top for being screwed to a joint element attached to the drilling tool. A lid (11) with a round glass insert (16) in its center is joined to the lower side (13). For determining the starting point for the drill the device (1) is attached to the front of the drill which is guided on a carriage located at a base. The position of the drill is adjusted and the laser unit (1) removed.
