<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function of maintaining a constant surface temperature of a fuel cartridge for a fuel cell which supplies hydrogen by a chemical hydride method to a fuel cell utilizable as a power source for a mobile electronic device or the like, and a function of maintaining a low internal pressure of the cartridge without using external motive power. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cartridge 1 for a fuel cell comprises: a first chamber 3 for accommodating a liquid material which takes part in a hydrogen generating reaction; a second chamber 4 having a hydrogen discharge port 10, accommodating a solid material which takes part in the hydrogen generating reaction and allowing the solid material to react with the liquid material; a hydrogen storage alloy placed in the second chamber 4; and a liquid transporting medium 7 for transporting the liquid material from the first chamber 3 to the second chamber 2. Heat generated during reaction between the liquid material and the solid material taking part in the hydrogen generating reaction is absorbed by the hydrogen storage alloy placed in the chamber filled with the solid material, so that the heat can be supplied as needed when hydrogen is released from the hydrogen storage alloy.
