<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for knee protection capable of preventing an interference with a key accessary so as to cause gas leakage from an air bag. <P>SOLUTION: In the air bag device S1 for knee protection, the folded air bag 40 projects from a storing part 13 to the back side of a vehicle and rises to complete deployment and inflation during the inflow of gas for inflation, thereby protecting the knee K of a driver D. The air bag 40 has a cover 48 for covering the back side of the vehicle in a region near a key cylinder 6 at the completion of the deployment and inflation. An air bag damage preventing material 51 is disposed around the key cylinder 6.
