PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system capable of collectively managing functions for allocating to a plurality of scope buttons of an electronic endoscope. SOLUTION: The system comprises the electronic endoscope 10 having an insertion tube 11 and an operation part 13 disposed in the outer end part of the body of the insertion tube 11, a processor unit 30 and a personal computer 60. The operation part 13 is equipped with a plurality of the scope buttons 15a-15c for controlling the function of this electronic endoscope 10 and an EEPROM 19 storing machine type identification data. The personal computer 60 sets button function data for allocating the scope buttons 15a-15c to each user, stores user identification data for identifying the user and the machine type identification data for identifying the electronic endoscope 10 in a memory device 63, and transmits to the processor unit 30. The processor unit 30 controls the operation corresponding to the button function data allocated to the scope buttons 15a-15c when a scope button ON signal is received from the electronic endoscope 10.
