Cyclic (co)polycarbonates are new. Cyclic (co)polycarbonates of formula (Ia) and (Ib) are new. -O-D-O- and -O-E-O- = diphenolate residues with D and E being an aromatic 6-40C residue containing one or more aromatic or condensed optionally heteroatom- containing aromatic nucleus optionally substituted by 1-12C alkyl or halogen and optionally bridged by (cyclo)aliphatic, aromatic nuclei or heteroatoms; and k, m, n and o = integer 1-4000 An Independent claim is also included for production of the (co)polycarbonates.
