<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of maintaining the code quantity constant after compression even when continuous shooting of a changing object is performed. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with a compression means for compressing YC (brightness/color difference) data by sequentially reading them from a memory and compresses images to be continuously imaged in real time. When YC data of an image which is photographed first are read, the compression means compresses the YC data by using a prescribed compression parameter, calculates a first compression parameter based on its compression result, next, reads the same YC data from the memory again and compresses the YC data by using the first compression parameter. Furthermore, a new compression parameter is calculated based on its compression result and when YC data of images photographed in the second time and afterward are read, the YC data are compressed by using the compression parameter calculated based on a compression result of the last image and a new compression parameter is calculated based on the compression result. Thus, even when the continuous shooting of the object of variance is performed, the code quantity after compression is maintained as constant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
