<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authenticity determining method according to which authenticity determination is conducted on an authentic product and a forged product which are simple printed matters without using special ink and appear completely the same by visual observation. <P>SOLUTION: According to the method of determining the authenticity of the printed matters, one or more discriminating spots are provided by printing on a recording medium, and spectra of reflected light at the spots are measured. If the spectra of reflected light at corresponding spots of the printed matter subjected to authentication determination are the same as the spectra of the authentic printed matter, the printed matter concerned is determined as the authentic product, whereas if the spectra do not correspond to those of the authentic printed matter, the printed matter concerned is determined as a forged product. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
