PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide vehicle position transmitting method/device and a vehicle collecting system for alleviating the load on a vehicle battery and transmitting positional information on the vehicle. SOLUTION: A navigation device 10, a security device 20, communication equipment 30 and an ignition switch 40 are mounted on a rental car R. The user of the rental car R depresses a return notice key 19 arranged in the navigation device 10 when the user returns the rental car R. A microcomputer 14 of the navigation device 10 judges whether the present state of the vehicle is a prescribed state that is previously decided on the basis of the depression operation. That is, the microcomputer 14 transmits present positional information to a monitoring center C through the communication equipment 30 when the state of the rental car R is in an "OFF" state of the ignition switch 40 and an operation state of the security device 20.
