PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a polarization measuring instrument, and to allow integration thereof. SOLUTION: This polarization measuring instrument is provided with a light splitting means for splitting incident light into four or more of parallel beams with a predetermined interval, a photoreceiving element having four or more of photoreceiving faces for photoreceiving the parallel beams split by the light splitting mean, and a calculation means for calculating a polarization condition of the incident light based on outputs of the parallel beams photorecieved by the photoreceiving faces, and the light splitting means has one or more selected from the group consisting of a half-mirror and total reflection mirror, 1/4 wavelength plate, a linear polarizer and a rotatory polarizer, in the polarization measuring instrument.
