PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic lid attaching/removing device which protects a connecting part of a curvic coupling for positioning an attachment in a machining center from cutting liquid and chips. SOLUTION: This automatic lid attaching/removing device, which changes a machine tool or the attachment between a main spindle and a magazine using a changing arm, protects the coupling provided on the front end of a spindle head for positioning and connecting the attachment, and includes a shank, a flange on the end of the shank, a carrier on the end surface of the shank side of the flange, and an engaging member. The shank is mountable on a tool pot of the main spindle and the magazine. The flange is engraved with a grip groove and engages with the changing arm. The carrier includes a holding member for holding the lid. The engaging member engages with the lid on the front end of the spindle head when the carrier holding the lid is mounted on the main spindle.
