PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact rice cooker and warmer which is advantageous in cost since a cost is reduced compared with a conventional compression spring, and has no necessity to form a storage space which is required when the compression spring is used. SOLUTION: A lid 3 is mounted on a main body 1 so as to be freely opened/closed, and a hook part 7a at the tip of a hook 7 arranged in the lid 3 is engaged with the engagement step part 1c of the main body 1. A wire spring 8 is used for an elastic spring means for energizing the hook 7 in a direction to be engaged with the main body 1. The wire spring 8 is bent outward to be symmetrically circular arcuate, and a ring part 8b is formed at the center part. Thus, the elastic spring force of the wire spring 8 is sufficiently secured, and also a stable and planar spring actuation is obtained without vertical movement, so that the elastic spring force is stably exerted.
