<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated circuit device which is easily used for either transmission or image data processing, as well as a communication interface board and an image forming apparatus using the integrated circuit device. <P>SOLUTION: A main ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) 8 is equipped with a first operation mode for controlling a printer engine 11 and a laser scanner 12 via a built-in printer engine controller and a built-in laser scanner controller, and a second operation mode for receiving transmission data via a network chip 21 connected to a PCI Bus 14 and for transmitting image data corresponding to the transmission data via a second bus 30. Since a main ASIC 8 for image data processing and a main ASIC 8 for transmission are configured with an identical integrated circuit device, the design and the evaluation of a control system are easily done to reduce the production cost of a printer, according to switch-over between these operation modes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
