<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reducing a chromium-containing raw material where, when a chromium-containing raw material incorporated with a carbonaceous material and comprising chromium oxide and iron oxide is subjected to reduction (previous reduction), the consumption of the incorporated carbonaceous material preferential to the reduction of the iron oxide is suppressed to promote the reduction of the chromium oxide, so that the reduction ratio of chromium can be increased. <P>SOLUTION: An agglomerated matter 4 obtained by agglomerating a mixture consisting of a chromium-containing raw material 1 and a carbonaceous reducing material 2 by a granulator 3 is subjected to radiation heating inside a movement furnace hearth 5. In this case, the average temperature rising rate of the agglomerated matter 4 in the range from the point of time at which the radiation heating of the agglomerated matter 4 is started to the point of time at which the temperature of the agglomerated matter 4 reaches 1,114°C is controlled to≥13.6/s. Thus, the reduction of the chromium oxide is started before the consumption of the incorporated carbonaceous material for the reduction of the iron oxide in the agglomerated matter 4, so that a reduction agglomerated matter 6 having a high chromium reduction rate can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
