PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load on a digital camera without lowering the frame rate of display. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with an EVF 22 for performing live view display etc. The EVF 22 is provided with a display control section 220 and two memories 221, 222. A live view image to be generated at an image generating rate in an overall processor is transmitted to the EVF 22 and written into any one of the memories 221, 222. After that, the live view image is read at an image display rate from the memories 221, 222, and displayed on a display panel 223. Since the live view image is read after temporarily stored in the memories, the image generating rate and the image display rate are free from mutual restriction.
