PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming apparatus using liquid developer compact by shortening a liquid developer recovery path. SOLUTION: An electrifier 34a, an exposure unit 33a and a developing device 32a are arranged in the periphery of a photoreceptor drum 31a, and the developing device 32a forms a toner image by developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the photoreceptor drum with the liquid developer consisting of insulative liquid carrier and toner. Then, the toner image is transferred to a body to be transferred (for instance, an intermediate transfer belt). A cleaning blade member 36a removes and recovers the liquid developer remaining on the photoreceptor drum after transferring the toner image.
