PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modifying a configuration file of a server device accessible from a client terminal via a communication network in compliance with a connection line to the Internet of the server device. SOLUTION: This file configuration modification method for the server device is constructed of a step in which type information of the connection line to the Internet from the client terminal is inputted to the server device via the communication network, a step in which the server device acquires a configuration file by line of a compression format corresponding to the type of the line stored in an external storage device according to the type information of the connection line to the Internet, a step in which the server device develops the line configuration file of the compression format under a predetermined directory in the external storage device to create a predetermined file configuration, and a step in which completion of formation of the predetermined file configuration is sent to the client terminal via the communication network.
