PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize reliable data transfer by maintaining matching of input and output pointers, especially without structural complexity, in a first-in, first-out (FIFO) system buffer device used, for example, in a disk controller. SOLUTION: In the FIFO system buffer device 161 of different input and output transfer bit numbers, a controller 310 jumps input and output pointers according to given conditions after data transfer of a given unit (for example, sector unit) to a buffer memory part 300.
