PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of reducing the warm-up time and the consumption power, while obtaining high heating efficiency. SOLUTION: A heater layer comprising a magnetic metal layer 13 is provided on a fixing roller 11 which is a fixing member, a heater layer comprising a non-magnetic metal layer 24 is provided on a pressure belt 21 which is a pressure member, and an exciting coil 31 arranged in the neighborhood of a part, in contact with the fixing roller 11 and the pressure belt 21 inside the pressure belt 21. In order to strengthen the magnetic field by the exciting coil 31, ferrite 32 is arranged inside the pressure belt 21. The eddy current load of the non-magnetic metal layer 24 of the pressuring belt 21 is set to 5.7×10<SP>-3</SP>Ωor larger. The eddy current load of the magnetic metal layer 13 of the fixing roller 11 is set within the range of 3.0×10<SP>-4</SP>Ωto 2.0×10<SP>-2</SP>Ω. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
