PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the length of a target being one of its characteristic amounts using a radar. SOLUTION: The correlation waveform 4 (first correlation waveform) between the waveform 1 of a transmission wave to a point target and the waveform 2 of a received wave of a reflected wave from the point target 3, and the correlation waveform 7 (second correlation waveform) between the waveform 1 of a transmission wave to a target 6 having length and the waveform 2 of a received wave of a reflected wave from the target having length are formed, using the radar.
