PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detection apparatus capable of accurately and easily detecting the presence of radioactive nuclides in a specimen. SOLUTION: The radiation detection apparatus 1 comprises a culture container (housing part) 2 capable of housing living tissue (the specimen) 9; a detection part 3 for detecting radiation radiated from the radioactive nuclides present in the living tissue 9 and converting it into light; a condensing part 4 for condensing the light emitted from the detection part 3 to a light receiving part 5; the light receiving part 5 for receiving and converting the condensed light into an image signal; and an image processing part 6 for forming an image of the image signal transmitted from the light receiving part 5. These parts are sequentially arranged in this order. In the radiation detection apparatus 1, the detection part 3 is provided with a mirror finished surface for reflecting light directed to the opposite side of the light receiving part 5. The detection part 3 comprises both a sheet-like solid scintillator 31 and a reflecting film 32 provided for the side of the culture container 2 of the solid scintillator 31.
