PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate any concern about firing in defrosting even if flammable cooling medium is leaked and to considerably improve heat efficiency in defrosting. SOLUTION: An induction heating apparatus 5 structured with a coil 5B provided in an insulation plate 5A and an electric power providing means (not illustrated) for providing electric power of required frequency, for example approximately 20 kHz, to the coil 5B is mounted so that it faces with a metallic evaporator 4. Eddy current is inducibly generated in the metallic evaporator 4 by providing electric power of required frequency to the coil 5B so that frost attached to the evaporator 4 is melted by heating the evaporator 4 with resistive heat generation of the eddy current.
