The support structure for the body of a motor vehicle has two interconnectable modules, the first (2) of which is designed as a frame structure manufactured in a conventional steel plate design and connected in a modular fashion to the passenger cell's floor plate (3) similarly constructed in steel plate design, and a second module (20) with a frame structure made in aluminum spaceframe design, and moreover includes the sills (17,18) defining the longitudinal sides of the passenger cell (16).
