PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear plate for a PDP, which develops neither the turning-up of a rib nor a broken rib piece, facilitates the formation of a non-rib region and develops no disconnection of electrodes or the like. SOLUTION: In the rear plate for the PDP including a board and a rib-patterned layer, which is formed on the board and has a rib region equipped with ribs each having the predetermined shape and size and a non-rib region occupying at least some part of the peripheral part of the rib region, a thin film made of the same material as that of the rib is so constituted in the non-rib region as to be formed in order to have the predetermined thickness.
