摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-sided image reading apparatus which is capable of also reading an original placed on original platen glass, reduces an installation area and also reduces its height. SOLUTION: The double-sided image reading apparatus includes an original feeding means for feeding the original placed on an original tray 8 to a paper eject tray 32 through U-turn, and first and second reading means 15 provided on an original feeding route on both sides with the original in between. The first reading means is used as a reading means for also reading the original on original platen glass 1, the original tray 8, the paper eject tray 32, the original feeding route and the original platen glass 1 are vertically disposed, and the second reading means 15 is disposed above the original platen glass 1. The second reading means 15 may be composed of a contact image sensor. Thus, the original tray, the paper eject tray, the original feeding route and the original platen glass are vertically disposed, the second reading means is disposed above the original platen glass, and the first reading means is used as the reading means for also reading the original placed on the original platen glass, thereby obtaining the double-sided reading apparatus which reduces the installation area and also reduces its height.
