PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and a reproducing method of a video disc capable of high speed searching regardless of the type of search images such as an I picture, a P picture and a B picture, in a video disc recording/reproducing device which performs high efficiency compression coding to a digital image signal and records and reproduces the signal on the video disc. SOLUTION: A sequence including multiple image information blocks (GOP) which mixedly comprise the I pictures and the P pictures and the B pictures in a unit are recorded on a video disc. A header address at the top of the sequence and an ID signal for identifying the video disc are also recorded on the video disc.
