PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method of design aid capable of determining a detailed shape of a part by extracting a part of graphic data based on a rough shape of an assembly and for facilitating part design. SOLUTION: A processor is provided with a graphic operation program 307 for creating a schematic drawing and a part drawing, a local dimension program 308 for defining local dimension at an assembled state in a rough schematic drawing and a dimension display program 309 for displaying the local dimension inputted in the schematic drawing in the case of creating a partial schematic drawing and the part drawing. The graphic operation program has a function for reading in/out creation data from/to a storage means 306 other than creating the assembly and the part drawing, a local dimension input program creates dimension data indicating a numerical value calculated from a geometrical value of graphic data and dimension data of a value inputted by an operator by distinguishing them, the dimension display program simultaneously displays the respective dimensions by distinguishing them.
