PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fence of fine appearance and excellent workability with a small number of parts while being strong hardly allowing a cross rail detached after once built up. SOLUTION: This fence is provided with posts 2, panel strips 3 and cross rails 4. The cross rail 4 has a front side engaging groove 42 and a rear side engaging groove 43 respectively opened in the front and rear directions. The post 2 having a cross rail mounting groove 21 is provided with front side engaging projections 22 and rear side engaging projections 23 opposedly projected in the front and rear directions respectively from the front side face and rear side face inside the cross rail mounting groove 21, and panel strip locking grooves 24 for locking the panel strip 3. The panel strip 3 has through-holes 31 for inserting the cross rails 4. The end part of the cross rail 4 is inserted through the through-hole 31 of the panel strip 3, and the panel strip 3 is inserted in the panel strip locking grooves 24 from the upper end of the post 2 and locked. The front side engaging groove 42 and rear side engaging groove 43 are engaged with the front side engaging projection 22 and the rear side engaging projection 23 of the post 2 respectively.
