<p>Automatic transfer of glue grains or powder from a storage hopper (3) to the heating chamber (1) is through a conical thermally insulating duct (4) immediately over the heating chamber, guiding material from the storage area (8) to the heating area (38). A measured quantity of material is transferred in response to a signal from a detector at the minimum level for the glue in the heating chamber.
