<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission display device capable of increasing electron emission volume, lowering drive voltage, and elongating the life of an electron emission source. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes a first and a second substrates forming a vacuum vessel placed in opposition with any given interval, the electron emission source to be installed to either of the first and the second substrates, an electron emission means for emitting electrons from the electron emission source, and a light-emitting means fitted to either of the first and the second substrates for emitting light so as to embody an image by electrons emitted from the electron emission source. The device is characterized in that the electron emission source includes a carbon nanotube layer and a base layer joining the carbon nanotube layer with one of the substrates and having conductivity so that voltage necessary for the electron emission is impressed on the carbon nanotube layer, with the base layer formed in a given thickness on one of the substrates and with the carbon nanotube layer formed laminated on the base layer virtually immiscible with the base layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
