PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital recording and reproducing apparatus excellent in random accessibility and small in size. SOLUTION: The digital recording and reproducing apparatus has either one of recording medium of hard disk and optical disk, or magneto-optical disk, and is provided with a miniaturized disk driving means for mainly recording a code-compressed digital image signal on the recording medium.
