PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of enhancing the accuracy of processing of discriminating a specific original by reducing misjudgment of the specific original discrimination processing caused by an image on the backside of the original. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with: a means 2 for eliminating a component caused by the backside image from a digital original image obtained by receiving a digital input of a one side of an original the both sides of which are printed on the basis of edge strength detection and color threshold value processing; and a specific original discrimination processing means 3 for using image data from which the backside image component is eliminated is used to perform the specific original discrimination processing. When the image from which the backside image component is eliminated is used to perform the specific original discrimination processing, the specific original discrimination processing with high accuracy can be performed without being affected by the backside image.
