PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a revolution speed sensor device, which judges not only revolution speed of rotor, but also revolution direction only by providing a sensor, and also to provide a rotation device with the revolution speed sensor device. SOLUTION: The revolution speed sensor device (1) is provided with: an annular sensor ring (10); freely rotatable in normal revolution direction and reverse revolution direction together with the rotor (100); a sensor (20) sensing physical characteristic variation on a sensed rotation surface (11) of the sensor ring (10) accompanying the rotation of the rotor (100) and arranged and fixed so as to always face a part of a rotation plane to be sensed (11) of the sensor ring (10); and a transducer (30) for producing pulse series signals with frequencies proportional to the revolution speed of the rotor (100) by conversion-processing the signal output from the sensor (20). The sensed rotation surface (11) is formed so that the waveforms of the signal output from the sensor (20) are different between the case of normal revolution direction and the case of reverse revolution direction of the sensor ring (10).
