PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine work machine for restraining intrusion of rainwater into a package. SOLUTION: An intake hood F is arranged so that an average intake flow speed does not exceeds 4 m/s in a prescribed area running along at least the inner peripheral edge in the inner peripheral edge of an air intake port 39 of the intake hood F, and can thus restrain the rainwater from intruding into the package 12. When arranging the intake hood F so that the intake flow speed of at least the prescribed area does not exceed 4 m/s in either place, the intrusion of the rainwater into the package 12 can be further surely restrained.
