The decorative lighting effect may be provided by a number of units that each have a cylindrical body (8) housing a battery (4) and an electronic circuit (5). The effect is provided by light emitting diodes, LED, (L1,2). The LED elements are controlled by a hand held remote controller. A number of such units may be used for decoration of such as a tree.
