A flexible, breathable polymer film has an ordered structure of funnel-shaped capillary pores allowing gas exchange through the film, where the widening regions of the pores having a transparent inorganic nanoparticulate coating topped by a bonded cover film of short wavelength photocatalytically-active, hydrophilic, non-toxic metal oxide nanoparticles which are adjustably antibacterial and self-cleaning, dependent upon the opening angles of the widenings of the pores. A flexible, breathable polymer film has a spatially-ordered structure of capillary pores allowing gas exchange through the film and with variable diameter, with a funnel-shaped widening at the film surface. At least at the widenings, there is a transparent, film-protecting binder film of chemically-inert inorganic nanoparticles and, on this binder film, a bonded cover film which is of short wavelength photocatalytically-active, hydrophilic, non-toxic metal oxide nanoparticles, these metal oxide nanoparticles being adjustably antibacterial and self- cleaning dependent upon the opening angles of widenings of the pores. An Independent claim is also included for a method of production of the above film by dip coating and sol-gel processes. |
