There is provided a plane display device (1) consisting of a plurality of unit plane display elements (2) and having an excellent image display quality. In the plane display device (1) including a plurality of unit plane display elements (2) each having a rectangular display surface, a set of external reference section (5) located at the orthogonally intersecting side of the external section of all the unit plane display elements (2) or a set of internal reference section (7) located inside the external section and in contact with the orthogonally intersecting plane is arranged in the same direction. The external reference section (5) and the internal reference section (7) are positioned in contact with a frame reference section (4) arranged at a position orthogonally intersecting the frame of the unit plane display elements (2) arranged in the unit plane display device (1). A manufacturing method of the plane display device (1) is also disclosed.
