Control system with a simple hardware unit to control an electric machine in PWM mode or square wave mode

The system has a pulse rectifier that generates the individual phase voltages and can be controlled in PWM or block modes. Software elements generate PWM and block control signals that determine the PWM and block signal changeover times. A switch selects the PWM or block control signal and feeds it to a PWM/block signal device that receives one of the control signals and outputs the corresponding PWM or block signal. The system determines longitudinal and transverse voltages as control parameters and has a pulse rectifier (12) that generates the phase voltages for the individual phases and can be controlled in PWM or block modes with PWM (20) or block (21) signals. Software elements (4,16;15,16) generate PWM and block control signals that determine the PWM and block signal changeover times. A switch (17) selects the PWM or block control signal and feeds it to a PWM/block signal device (18) that receives one of the control signals and outputs the corresponding PWM or block signal.
