<p>A golf shot analyser (100, Fig 1, not shown) comprises a sensing mat (101) for sensing movement of a golf club and the ball, and an operating system including a processor and data storage device coupled with a user interface (103) to display calculated data and/or graphic representations, wherein the analyser unit has communication devices with external computer entities, eg further analyser units (100) at local or remote locations, a local network or the internet. The sensing mat can incorporate fibre optics (Fig 2) and devices for automatic loading of golf balls to the tee position; apart from head and ball motion parameters (Fig 5), a camera can also input body posture graphics to the system, and the calculated virtual trajectories can be influenced by input of chosen weather conditions (Fig 12). Virtual competitions can therefore be played between golfers at dispersed locations. System options include user identification associated with access to the system and stored performance data; accounts and marketing inputs; and component failure predictions to influence servicing schedules (Figs 7, 8, 12 to 16).</p> |
