An application station 16 for use in a process control system comprises a redundancy manager 50 and a redundancy link subsystem 60, which is adapted to communicate with a second application station 18 via a redundancy communication link 46. The redundancy manager may establish a redundancy context with the second application station 18, and may receive information via the redundancy link which may lead to the switch-over of operations from the second application station 18 to the first application station 16. The first application station 16 may also include virtual control operations 54 and redundant application operations 52. Also disclosed in independent claims are a redundancy manager, a method, system and machine accessible medium for establishing a redundancy context, a method, system and machine accessible medium for maintaining a redundancy context and a method of changing the configuration of an application station. |
