<p>The multifunction warning device, primarily for use indicating a disabled vehicle to oncoming motorists, comprises a base upon which a body 101 on which a lamp 102 is mounted can be detachably secured, with a number of legs 21 being pivotally attached to the base so that they can be moved between extended positions where they can support the device in an upright position and retracted positions where the device as a whole forms a baton. A rechargeable device 2 can be removably secured to the base, the rechargeable device containing batteries which can either power the lamp or which can be recharged when the rechargeable device is inserted into an automobile power socket. The device preferably has three legs, each of which is connected by a rod 22 to a central ring 23 to limit outwards movement. Each leg preferably includes a longitudinal frame upon which a number of illuminating elements 211 are located that are covered by a light pervious shell that is pivotally secured to the base. The lamp and the illuminating elements can be selectively operated independently of one another. The device may include a manually-powered generator that can be used to recharge the batteries. Bars may be selectively secured between each pair of adjacent legs when the legs are in the extended positions to enhance the strength of the device. The legs may be connected to a second ring by a second set of rods. A bottom cover 24 may be provided to fit over the free ends of the legs when they are in their retracted positions and the cover may be connected to the first ring.</p> |
