PURPOSE: A security system of a vehicle and a method for controlling a security system are provided to prevent an unidentified person from using a vehicle, to control a vehicle remotely, to lock the door of a vehicle even when a user is without an electronic key, and to check the validity of a driver's license of an identified driver. CONSTITUTION: A security system(100) of a vehicle comprises a base station(102) placed remote from a vehicle and a vehicle unlocking device(101) installed in the vehicle. The base station transmits a control signal. The vehicle unlocking device is a vehicle communication unit(111) for receiving the control signal from the base station. The vehicle unlocking device comprises a vehicle unlocking element(112) needed for driving. The vehicle unlocking element allows the vehicle to be used or prevent the vehicle from being used with response to the control signal received by the vehicle communication unit.
