The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an organic EL device, a simple method for connecting a cathode and a cathode terminal. First, anodes are formed on a substrate, and a cathode terminal is simultaneously formed. Next, a hole injection layer and a light-emitting layer are formed over the entire surface of the substrate by spin coating. Subsequently, at a position corresponding to the cathode terminal, a liquid containing powdered silver and a solvent is dripped from a container of a dispenser. As this solvent, a solvent that dissolves the hole injection layer and the light-emitting layer is used. Accordingly, a throughhole is provided at the position corresponding to the cathode terminal, and this throughhole is filled with silver. Next, a cathode layer is formed so as to cover the position at which the throughhole is provided.
