PURPOSE: Hericium erinaceus exo-biopolymer having hypolipidemic effect, a method for isolation of the same, and the use thereof are provided, thereby reducing total cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid, arteriosclerosis index and LDL cholesterol concentration and maintaining high level of HDL cholesterol concentration, so that atherosclerosis can be prevented, and reducing biosynthesis of cholesterol. CONSTITUTION: The method for isolating Hericium erinaceus exo-biopolymer having hypolipidemic effect comprises the steps of: (a) inoculating the Hericium erinaceus cultured medium to potato/dextrose agar medium and subculturing it at 4 deg.C at intervals of 3 months; (b) inoculating the subcultured medium to potato/dextrose broth(pH 5.0) and culturing it with agitation at 25 deg.C; (c) after 10 days of cultivation, pulverizing the cultured medium under aseptic condition and inoculating the pulverized medium into a medium containing 20g/l of glucose, 0.5 g/l of MgSO4 7H2O, 0.46 g/l of KH2PO4, 2 g/l of yeast extract, and 2 g/l of peptone; (d) culturing the medium at 25 deg.C and 120 rpm for 12 days; (e) centrifuging the cultured medium at 10,447xg for 20 minutes, collecting the supernatant, precipitating the supernatant with ethanol, and centrifuging the supernatant; and (f) diluting and dialyzing the centrifuged supernatant with water, and freeze-drying the dialyzed product.
